Louise Amelia (Szynal) Plachta Obituary
Plachta, Louise Amelia (Szynal) Louise Plachta, 92, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, February 2, 2018, at Green Acres Assisted Living. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass for Louise will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, February 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Don Henkes as celebrant. Interment of her ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will immediately follow at Lincoln Reception Center (at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home). The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Friday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Leonard E. and Louise A. Plachta Endowment Fund through the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Louise was born October 8, 1925, in Detroit, daughter of the late Andrew and Agnes (Gondek) Szynal. She married Leonard Plachta on September 2, 1957, at St. Barbara Church in Dearborn. She was employed as a secretary by CMU Parks and Recreation Administration and she was also a non-traditional student liaison. Louise was very active in her community having served on the boards of Woodland Hospice and Pardee Cancer Treatment Foundation. She also volunteered at McClaren Central Michigan at the information desk. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, serving as lector for over 30 years. Louise is survived by two daughters, Linda Hall (Tom Lawrence) of Grosse Pointe and Laura (Michael) Lisa of Worthington, OH; seven grandchildren, Ian, Conor, Nicholas, and Tarun, Oscar, Sam, and Anna Rose; two great grandsons, William and Patrick; siblings, Raymond Szynal of Dearborn and Catherine (Kenneth) Russell of Brownstown; brother-in-law, Daniel Plachta of Dearborn Heights; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Agnes Szynal; husband, Dr. Leonard E. Plachta; three siblings, Amelia Szynal, Louis Szynal, and Rose Szynal; and sister-in-law, Anne Szynal. The family thanks the staff at Green Acres Assisted Living and McLaren Hospice for the wonderful care that was given to Louise.
