Brown, Phyllis Kay Age 76, of Wheeler, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant. Phyllis was born February 9, 1942 in Breckenridge, the daughter of Harold and Elsie (Federspiel) Boroughf. She graduated from Breckenridge High School as Salutatorian with the class of 1959. Phyllis married James Brown on October 16, 1960 at the Wheeler United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School, writing letters to shut-ins, volunteered as secretary and helped with the school backpack lunches so no kid goes hungry. Phyllis worked for Dow Chemical, Wheeler Township as Treasurer and Samaritan Counseling in Saginaw. She enjoyed her flower garden, going to Houghton Lake and reading a good book, but loved watching her grandchildren in all their events. She is survived by her husband James, sons Kevin (Trish) Brown, Matthew (Nanette) Brown, Darren (Barbara) Brown, Corey (Bobbie) Brown, grandchildren Ashley (Dan) Foster, Kolby (Jordan) Munro, Jentry, Josey, Gracey, Samantha Keller, Jessica Keller, Alyssa (fiancé Zach), Amber, Spencer, Benjamin, Lindsay (fiancée Kristen), Ellie, Kylie, Cole, great grandchildren Bryce and Lillian Foster, Malachi Hill-Brown, Kaleb Stevens, Logan Wonnacott, Levi Keller, Cole Schymanski and Bennet Wojciechowski. Also sisters Karen (Ronald) Gross and Marilyn (Gary) Shaw and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and infant grandson Josh. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 12 pm at the Breckenridge United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 8 pm at the Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel and Thursday from 10 am until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Breckenridge United Methodist Church, Howe Memorial Library or Wishes of the Family.
