Dr.  Richard J. Remsberg Obituary
Remsberg, Dr. Richard J. Age 87, lifelong resident of Alma, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on June 13, 1930 in Alma the son of Emory and Ruth (Aldrich) Remsberg. On October 12, 1956 he married Molly Engle at the First Presbyterian Church in Alma. Dick was a 1948 graduate of Alma High School and graduated from Alma College in 1951. He then attended Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1955 and joined his father at their private practice office in Alma. He continued to work in private practice until 1984, when he became the Medical Director for the Michigan Masonic Home, retiring in 1991. He was the first D.O. in history to become a member of a Michigan State Medical Society. Dick was a proud member of the Alma St. Louis Rotary and served as a Past President. He was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church, a Past Master and member of the Alma Masonic Lodge and a member of the Alma Elks Lodge. He served on the board of Patient Equipment Locker in Alma for many years. Dick enjoyed sailing and spending time at the family cottage on Crystal Lake. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Molly Remsberg of Alma, three daughters; Susan (David) Fleetwood of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Kathryn Remsberg and Lee Ann Remsberg both of St. Johns, three grandchildren; Rachael and Grayson Fleetwood and Naomi Remsberg and two sisters; Joyce (David) Wilfong and Barbara (James) Cox of Bath. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Dorothy Jean and a brother, Dean. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Alma with Pastor Tom Brackbill officiating. Interment will be held at a later time in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 14th from 10 am until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Alma College, Gratiot County Commission on Aging or Heartland Hospice.
