In 1941 she married Dr. Harold J. Dean. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in 2009. She was a 1941 graduate of Alma High School and a stay-at-home mom for many years before earning her Bachelor's Degree in English from Alma College in 1973. She continued her education at Michigan State University to obtain her Master's Degree in Social Work. Teacel was a substitute teacher for a short time and then began her employment at the Baptist Children's Home in St. Louis, where she worked until her retirement several years later. She was a member and one of the original founder's of Trinity Church in Alma. She loved to read the Bible and memorize scripture, which she used to serve the Lord and help others. Family was everything to Teacel, an avid prayer warrior for each of her family members and anyone she knew that was in need. Creativity came naturally, and she always had a sewing, knitting or quilt project in her hands. Her hand-sewn quilts can be found in the homes of all her children and grandchildren. She loved to host tea parties as well as cook and bake when family members came to visit. She was a sports enthusiast - in particular when it came to Spartan football and basketball. She was always learning, and in the last month of her life, she was reading and taking notes on The English and Their History, over 1000 pages. Teacel is survived by her sister, Lois (John) Miller, and her 4 children - Rebecca (Dave) Reid, Paul (Delisa) Dean, Mary Elizabeth Dean, Nancy (Steve) Rowland, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. Harold J. Dean in 2009, an infant son, Riley Gordon, a sister, Onda (Emil) Shimunek and a brother, Carl (Elsie) Schultz.
