Maria Laina Naquin Carlisle

Maria Laina Naquin Carlisle, 55 years young, passed on Sunday July 26, 2015 at her home in Gretna, La. She was the wife and best friend of Robert Eugene Carlisle who shared many years together from childhood to adulthood. Maria Laina was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is the daughter of the late Huey Naquin Sr. and Faye Lynne Naquin. Early in her career she served as a clerk in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department; she was a homemaker and a home health caregiver. She was also pursuing a career as an EMT. She enjoyed fishing, festivals, riding her motorcycle, spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, cooking, and crafts such as crocheting and sewing. But her passion was to aid others. She did it well and with open, loving arms. Maria Laina will be remembered for her kind heart, her smile that could light up a room, her sense of humor, her words of advice and her love for her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Robert Eugene Carlisle, her mother, Faye Lynne Naquin; her brother, Raymond Naquin and his wife Rebecca Wappler Naquin; her sons, David Sanchez and wife Shannon Billingsley, Brad Michel and wife Mandy Michel, and Jeremy Sanchez Sr. and wife Alexie Sanchez; and her step children Stacie Lerille, Shawn McCalla, Farran Carlisle, and Taylor Carlisle. She is also preceded by her 7 grandchildren Dawson Lerille, Daci Sanchez, Gage Schexnayder, Sage Allen, Nathan Michel, Aubrie Sanchez, and Jeremy Sanchez Jr. and two step grandchildren Leila Rose Carlisle, and Rylan James Daigle Carlisle, her nieces and nephews Trey Naquin, Clinton Naquin, Ben Naquin, Gabrielle Naquin, Christian Naquin. Also her little Yorkie pup Zoe Marie. Maria Laina was predeceased by her Father Huey Naquin Sr. and her brother Huey Naquin Jr. whom she will be placed next to in her final place of rest. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway in Harvey; viewing begins at 9:00am, Funeral Mass begins at 11:00am followed with interment at Westlawn Park Cemetery in Gretna.
