Raymond Gambel Obituary

Raymond Halpin Gambel, age 69, died peacefully at his home on Friday, April 17, 2015, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Elizabeth Carmouche Gambel; his children, Lydia Lorraine Gambel Jaunet (Jason), LCDR Raymond Halpin Gambel, Jr., USN (Kristin), and David Charles Gambel (Kimberly); his grandchildren, Michael, Christian, and Madison Jaunet; and Bryan, Alyssa, and Kyle Gambel; his sister Ellen G. Simon (Kelly); and his brother Gregory F. Gambel (Robyn). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lange Gambel and Lorraine Nalty Gambel; and his brothers, Charles L. Gambel, Jr., and William C. Gambel. Mr. Gambel graduated from Jesuit High School in 1963. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University of the South in 1967 and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University of the South in 1969. Mr. Gambel served as a Securities Examiner with the Commissioner of Securities, State of Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions. He was an adjunct professor at Southeastern Louisiana University, Delgado Community College, St. Mary's Dominican College, and Southern University of New Orleans. He was also a long-time member of the Southern Yacht Club in New Orleans. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday April 20, 2015 at 12:00 noon at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd. Metairie, Louisiana. Interment in Metairie Cemetery will immediately follow Mass. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, LA 70005; Brother Martin High School, 4401 Elysian Fields Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122 or Mount Carmel Academy, 7027 Milne Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
