Ceola Mae Hilliard LaCroix, a retired Elementary Teacher from the Orleans Parish School System entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Ochsner Foundational Hospital in Kenner, Louisiana at the age of 85. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana; she was a Member of Gloryland Mt. Gillion Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday school Superintendent, Director of Youth Department and Choir Member. She graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Studied at Xavier University and the University of New Orleans; she taught at Joseph A. Craig, Johnson Lockett, Robert R. Moton, and McDonough #36 and #38, James Lewis and William J. Guste Elementary Schools. She received certification in Hotel and Motel Management, Real Estate, Modeling, Receptionist, Hostess and Direct Sales. She was a former Director of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Manager of Diamite Corporation, Owner of Kids Day Care Center; a former Radio Announcer and Television Announcer for Channel 26 TV Gospel Hour sponsored by the late Dorothy Lawless. Beloved daughter of the Late Fisher Hilliard and Ceola Smith Hilliard. Loving wife of Joseph E. LaCroix. Sister of Leona H. Henderson of New Orleans, La. and the late Elnora H. Johnson of San Francisco, CA; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, great-great-nieces, and nephews, Godchildren, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastors, Officers and Members of Gloryland Mt. Gillion BC, Mt. Zion BC of Gretna, La, St. Rose MBC, Pleasant Zion BC, Greater Asia BC, Christian Unity BC and all surrounding Churches; Staff and Members of Orleans Parish School Board, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, and Staff and Residents of Lafon Nursing Home are all invited to attend a Celebration of Life Funeral Services at Gloryland Mt. Baptist Church, 1515 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., NOLA on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Norman Stovall , Pastor and Officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until Funeral time. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Majestic Mortuary 504-523-5872.
