Shirley Binet Henderson passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the age of 91. She was born in New Orleans on May 28, 1924 to the late Edward M. Binet, Sr. and the late Eugenie Eisenmann Binet. Beloved wife of the late Charles Henry Henderson, Jr. for 54 years. Loving mother of Judy H. Pinter (Karl), Charles H. Henderson III, Janet H. D'Amico (Mike) and the late Jill H. Raphiel. Sister of the late Yvonne Brooks, Olivette Poche, and Edward M. Binet, Jr. Proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sister-in-law of Mary Leonhard and Joyce Binet. Shirley graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School on January 28, 1942. She graduated from Barthtower Business College. She was a Senior Instructor at New Orleans Skills Training Center and helped place students in the work force. She served as president of several clubs including Covington Senior Center, Naim of St. Peters Church, and American Legion Auxillary of Robert H. Burns Unit #16. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM with Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park & Mausoleum in New Orleans, LA. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.

Maw Maw Shirley was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. I have so many great memories of her from drinking tea as a child to playing bingo at Forest Manor. She will be truly missed by her family. Now she is in heaven with my grandfather, aunt, her parents, and her brother and sisters. She is in a peaceful place shining down on us with her smile and her warm heart. I love you Maw Maw!!!

Maw Maw Shirley was a wonderful grandmother to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. I have so many great memories of her from drinking tea as a child to playing bingo with her at Forest Manor. She was truly a joy to be around and will truly be missed by all her family.
