Shirley Mae Vaughns Collins, a retired Domestic Care Worker, entered into rest on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Tulane Medical Center of New Orleans, La. at the age of 90. Devoted mother of John Johnson (Marie), Helen Searcy and Jerffery (Kim) Griffin (all of St. Louis, Missouri), Willie Collins Jr. (Anita), Bobby Collins (Elaine), Livingston Collins (of Virginia Beach, Virginia), Kenneth Collins, Sheila Williams (Troy) and Gary Collins. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson; daughter-in-law, Pauline Johnson; ex-husband, Willie E. Collins, Sr;. three daughters-in-love, Mary Johnson, Emma Patterson and Juliet Collins; thirty-seven grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren; three cousins, Gwendolyn Bryant, Helen Brown and Rev. George Vaughns; two special friends, Darlene Butler and Alvin Bell; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Vaughns and Helen Dugar; Adopted parents, George and Arena Vaughns; six children, James Russell, Clyde, Ollie Patrick and Nathaniel Johnson, Linda Griffin and Christopher Collins; six birth siblings, Dorothy Smith, Edward and Lloyd Young, Nathaniel Vaughns, Harold and Edgar Johnson; four adopted siblings, Tim, Saul and Ruth Vaughns and Gertrude Gage; two sisters-in-law, Hattie Mae Mitchell and Joyce Johnson; and two great great-grandchildren, Tramontae Styles and Kei'My Kross Campbell. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of First Mount Calvary and First Emanuel Baptist Churches and Payne Memorial AME Church; employees of Monteleone Hotel, East Baton Rouge Parish School System, Domino's Pizza and Ochsner Medical Center are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration on Saturday, January 12, 2019 beginning 11:00 a.m. at First Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 2919 Sixth Street, Rev. Uyless D. Landry Sr., pastor, officiating. Church visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment Carrollton Cemetery, Rev. David M. Patin Sr. and Gwiena Magee Patin, Directors.
