Aldear Descant Laiche passed away with her loving children and grandchildren at her bedside on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at the age of 88. She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Metairie. Aldear was a Home Bound Minister of Holy Communion for the parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena. She was very active in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the first woman to join the Society in the late 60s. She worked with Archbishop Hannan in the relocation of the Vietnamese refugees. She was the recipient of the St. Louis Medallion from the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Beloved wife of the late Paul G. Laiche Jr. Loving mother of Mark D. Laiche Sr. (Mary Theresa), Ann Regina Laiche, Daniel B. Laiche and the late Paul G. Laiche III and the late Robert J. Laiche Sr. (the late Connie Maggio Laiche). Grandmother of Aimee Laiche Robinson (Stephen Jr.), Ashlee Laiche, Robert Joseph Laiche Jr. (Emily), Kathryn "Katy" Laiche Gaffney (Robert), Mark D. Laiche Jr., Evan Paul Laiche, Alyson Laiche Finnan, Chelsea Laiche Houidobre, Carey Laiche, Sarah Laiche, Marie Laiche and the late Paul G. Laiche IV. Great-grandmother of Olivia Robinson, Conrad Robinson, Bryce Robinson, Alaina Robinson, Abel Gaffney, Deeter Gaffney, Bailey Finnan, Miley Finnan, Cecily Finnan, Lucy Houidobre and Brody Houidobre. Daughter of the late Robert Joseph Descant and Regina Carey Descant. Devoted sister of June D. Toups and the late Robert J. Descant Jr. Half-sister of Dorothy Heines. Special thanks to her caregiver Ethel Mitchell and daughter-in-law Terry Laiche for her loving kindness, devotion and always being there in her time of need. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
