Dorothy Bellott Marchese passed away peacefully on October 17, 2014 at 1:45 pm. Beloved wife of 75 years to Johnny Marchese. Mother of John J. Marchese (Diann), Ralph J. Marchese (Angie), and Kathy Marchese Spadoni (Pete). She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, and her sister Gloria Compagno. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bellott. She is a long time resident of Metairie, and worked at Bonnie Francis and L. Franks, retiring in 1970. She enjoyed socializing with members of the St. Patrick Parade Committee of Jefferson Parish, and going on bus trips to casinos and to different destinations in the U.S. She was queen of the 2013 St. Patrick's Parade in Jefferson Parish She loved going out shopping with her friends, daughter, and daughter-in-laws. Her stories of her early life were often long and brought smiles to the faces of all she told them to, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was just a joy to be around. Special thanks to the aids, Debra, Sherill, and Sandra, who took great care of Mom during her illness. Also thanks to Dr. Robert Ryan of Family Practice who cared for Mom for nearly 40 years and to her heart doctor, Dr. Rolston, who also cared for her. She will be greatly missed not only by our family but by all who ever got to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent in her name to the Jefferson Council on Aging, 6620 Riverside Drive, Metairie. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service from LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, on Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014 at 11:00. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5:00 until 9:00, and resuming on Tuesday from 9:00 until service time. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, New Orleans.
