Simon Greydon Barrows, age 12, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, in Metairie, LA, after a tragic accident. Simon will always be deeply loved by parents Frederick and Patricia, younger brother Finnian, as well as his extended family and friends. A native and resident of the Greater New Orleans area, Simon was a 7th grader at Riverdale Middle and attended Phoebe Hearst Elementary and Parkway Presbyterian Preschool. He spent many summers at Kehoe-France day camp and forged some of his closest friendships with fellow campers. Simon had a deep passion for art, computers, Minecraft, music, and game programming. He was an incredibly giving and openhearted boy who unfailingly saw the good in others. Though his immediate, uniquely wonderful presence will be profoundly missed, his spirit, laugh, and sense of joy will endure for all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him during the 4,606 days he was with us. In passing, Simon provided the ultimate gifts a person can give as an organ donor to LOPA. Aside from his immediate family, Simon is survived by his Grandmothers Carolyn Barrows and Joyce James, his Uncles Jon J. Barrows and Addo Barrows, his Aunt Cynthia James, as well as many other second cousins, great aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by Grandfathers Jon A. Barrows and Robert "Sonny" James. An appreciation of life for Simon will be held Saturday, February 21, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home (4747 Veterans Blvd, Metairie, LA, 70006) from 4 pm until 6:30 pm. It will be informal and open to all who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your preferred charity. Condolences may be offered at
