Florence P. Rivette peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the age of 81. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Jane Tassin (the late M.A. "Mike"); her son, Fred Rivette (Sheri) and her loving companion, Joseph Simpson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan (Lindsey), Bradley (Gaby) and Kevin (Casey) and great grandchildren, Hayley, Landen, Isabella and Patrick. They were the light in her eyes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick L. Rivette and her parents, Charles and Sophronia Pippin. She was a graduate of LSU and Loyola University. She dedicated her life as an educator in the classroom, as a principal of Grace King High School, and an instructor at Loyola University. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Harahan and was a P.W.M. of Encircler Chapter 191. After her retirement, she served on the Jefferson Parish Library Board. She will be remembered for her generosity and love of LSU. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to First Baptist Church of Harahan for the children's program, 276 Oak Ave. Harahan, LA 70123.
