Fremont - Edward G. Celek, 94, of Fremont passed away on Sat., Nov. 3, 2018 at Elmwood Assisted Living, Fremont. He was born on April 22, 1924 to the late, Joseph and Frances (Novak) Celek. Ed graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1943.He married June M. Miller in 1948, she passed in 1981. He later married Eileen (Schwind) Eckel in 1984, she passed in 2014.

Ed worked for Howard Zink Corporation and the Fremont Board of Education. He was employed part-time with Celek Brothers Construction, Miller Brothers Construction, O'Brian Reality and the Sandusky County Sheriff Department.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served in many lay positions. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially watching his grandsons play NFL football, landscaping his yard, demonstrating his faith, and listening and dancing to Polka music with friends and family.

Ed is survived by his loving children, John E. (Patricia) Celek, Barbara J. (Charles) Bidek, Charles E. (Karen) Celek, Steven E. (Deborah) Celek, Laura J. (David) Randell, Susan J. (Jack) Holden; step-sons, Ron (Cathy) Eckel, Greg (Linda) Eckel, Brian Eckel, Jeff (Kelly) Eckel; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Lucretia (Glenn) Saller.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Stanley, and Vincent; and sisters, Mary Danback, Stella Nietrzeba, Dolores Snyder and Angela Mazur.

Friends and family will be welcomed to the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Thurs., Nov. 8, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. where a Vigil will be said at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Fri. 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to ProMedica Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
