Funeral services will be held for Marvin Raymond Steffins, 85, of West Monroe at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at White's Ferry Road Church of Christ. Danny Sidders and Don Delukie will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, June 13, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Marvin was born February 4, 1929 in Highland Park, MI and passed away June 11, 2014 in West Monroe, LA. Marvin graduated from Bob Jones University in 1951 with a double major in Bible and Radio and Television Broadcasting. Following graduation, he traveled to Quito, Ecuador to work with the pioneer missionary radio station HCJB where he met and fell in love with Marjorie Ann Jones, a missionary nurse. They were married in October, 1953 and then traveled to Costa Rica and Uruguay as missionaries.

Upon return to the states, Marvin was involved in several ventures over the course of his lifetime in radio work, advertising, marketing, real estate, financial advisement, and the restaurant business. He worked 25 years in international marketing for Fleetwood Furniture, selling and installing electronic teaching labs. He was a world traveler and was well known in multiple circles around the world. He worked with dozens of domestic and international governments and industrial agencies in acquisition, negotiation, and intelligence. He was a man of ambition and adventure! As President of International Expeditions, he conducted several expeditions in search of Noah's ark, accompanied once by astronaut Jim Irwin. He also led expeditions to search for the Titanic and Pancho Villa's treasure.

He was a man of many passions, primarily his family, faith and love for the Lord, and support of missions. He was a student of God's Word and was driven to get the Bible into the hands of the people around the world. He was a loyal member of Gideons International. He worked to create a version of the Bible for Russian learners of English as a second language. As the patriarch of his family, he established a spiritual legacy of Christian values and integrity. He and Marjorie partnered as prayer warriors; he loved to sing praise and worship with his family. He is dearly loved and his memory will be cherished. He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin W. Steffins.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Steffins, children, and grandchildren:Kathy and Dennis Davenport, Stefanie and Bryan, Kaitlin and Britton; Beth VanZandt, Ryan and Katelyn, Chris and Kristin, Erin, and Chase;Jon and Cheryl Steffins; Amanda and Chris, Rebecca and Lucas, Sara, and Jonathan; Jenny Remsberg, Victoria and Jonathan, Benton, Olivia, and Nathaniel;Marianne and Danny Sidders; Austin and Kersten, Danielle and Tyler, Peyton, and Caroline; Daniel and Andrea Steffins, Victoria, Katheryn, Alexandra, and Caroline;daughter-in-law, Betsy Steffins, Donnie, Robyn, Paul, Shawn, Richard and Tracy Steffins; and a growing number of great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister and her family, Jean and Al Kee; Steve and Nancy, David, Debbie.
