Sam Rubin Obituary
Visitation for Sam Rubin, 86, of Monroe will be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 24th at 5:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Sam passed away Monday, July 22nd at Oakwood Nursing Home in Mer Rouge. He owned and operated R&A Jewelers store for 60 years and was a member of Temple B'nai Israel. He was the ultimate sports fan.
Mr. Rubin was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Rubin; parents, Estelle and Sam Rubin, Sr.; brother, Jack Rubin.
Survivors include his children, Dr. Mark Rubin, Barry and Nicolle Rubin; Lori and Dr. Allen Spires; niece, Terri and Jack Trammell; grandchildren, Allen Spires, Jr., Samuel Spires, Leslie Spires, George Spires, Joseph Spires, and Daley Miller.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Oakwoods Nursing Home, Premier Hospice, and Alpha Care Nursing and Glenwood Hospital Physicians.
Memorials may be made to the Temple of B'nai Israel.

Sam sold me an engagement ring for my wife Kathy and ever since, we have been sold on his engaging, infectious, and enthusiastic smile. He was always ready to make a deal. As wonderful a life he lived, I feel sure God's going to have a great deal for him. May he rest in peace and may his wonderful family rest assured that his life was as much a blessing for those of us privileged to have known him as it was was and will continue to be for them. I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. The Schulte family extends our deepest condolences to the family. My father, William Schulte, who passed in 2011, considered Sam a good friend. Sam and my dad enjoyed playing cards and keeping each other company. He will be sorely missed.

He treasured his family and shared many stories with me over the years. Mr Sam Rubin was a fine gentleman and great businessman. He was liked by all and I am proud to have had him as a friend. I got to know him when I worked at Ouachita National Bank downtown Monroe. He will be missed by this community. Our prayers are with the family during these sad times

I was so surprised and sad to hear of Sam's passing. We spent many times together when we lived in Monroe and he was a mentor to me. I think of all the people with jewelry from him, that look at it each and every day and smile for the happy memories that Sam provided to them.
