Robert And Louise Bain Obituary
Robert Fountain Bain and Louise "Cooper" Bain

Funeral services for Robert and Louise Bain, ages 92 and 90, of Pioneer and Swartz, Louisiana, will be at 11 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2015, in the Mausoleum Chapel in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Monroe, Louisiana, with Rev. Jerry W. Weems and Rev. Gerald Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe.

Mr. and Mrs. Bain were called home to Jesus on Friday, December 26, 2014, just six hours apart.

The Bains first met at a church camp in Texas where Louise caught the eye of Robert and soon after secured his heart. They were married on September 14, 1942. Robert worked for the International Paper Company in Bastrop, Louisiana and Robert and Louise resided in Swartz, Louisiana until 1954 when they moved to Rome, Georgia. Robert worked for Georgia Kraft Company until his retirement in 1985. They were members of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia, where Robert served as a Deacon and Louise sang in the choir. In 2011, the Bains moved to an assisted living facility in the northern Atlanta suburbs.

In 72 years of marriage, they provided countless blessings to family, neighbors, friends, and chance acquaintances. Robert was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. He built every house that he and Louise called home. He was a fisherman, a hunter, and a gardener. Louise, a dedicated homemaker knew how to prepare the fish, the game, and vegetables. She raised a family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with her love and service. She was Robert's perfectly matched helpmate and the special sauce that flavored the family. The Bains lived life to the fullest. They laughed, they prayed, they cried, and they sang. Their enduring devotion to each other and to Christ their God was the foundation and canvas for a portrait of true love. God be thanked for their time with us. To God be the glory.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Maggie May Bain of Pioneer, Louisiana; brothers, James Walter, Clyde Turner, Harry Thomas, Garris Robert; and sisters, Annie Mae Thurmond, Clara Studler, Jean Rains, Esta Standifer, and Ada Bain.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Vera Cooper of Swartz, Louisiana; brother, James Cooper; and sister, Dorothy Turner.

Living family members include daughter and son in-law, Charlotte and Mike Tallent of McCormick, South Carolina; daughter and son in-law, Robbie and Lamar Baker of Rome, Georgia; and son and daughter in-law, Larry and Sandra Bain of Juliette, Georgia. Grandchildren are Terri Roper and husband Tony, Robert Williams and wife Mary, Daniel Bain, Thomas Bain and wife Jennifer, Bandy Baker, and Traci Smith and husband Buddy. Great grandchildren are Corey Lemming, Jarred Lemming, Caroline Williams, Robert Williams, Weston Bain, Hayden Bain, Sydney Howell, Lauren Roper, Nick Roper, and Ashley Roper. Additional family members include cousins, nephews, and nieces residing in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi.

Pallbearers are Robert Williams, Corey Lemming, Jarred Lemming, Daniel Bain, Thomas Bain, and Bandy Baker.

Visitation is at 10 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2015, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Benton House Management and staff of Alpharetta, Georgia and the Interim Healthcare Hospice of Atlanta, Georgia for their loving care of the Bains during their last days.

Memorials may be made to The Lakeview Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia in honor of Robert and Louise Bain.
