Engel, John Paul

John Paul Engel, 73, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014. John was born in Oshkosh, on December 19, 1940, the son of Eleanor (Werch) and Harold Engel. John graduated from Oshkosh High School. He worked for Rockwell International for 30 years. John married Sharon Kay Wesenberg on October 8, 1966.

John was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Oshkosh. In John's younger years, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with his family. In his later years he enjoyed watching all sports. John was an devoted Packer Fan. John loved his family and his dog, Gretel. John treasured his two precious grandchildren, Lauren and Brett. John is survived by his wife, Sharon, son, Scott Martin Engel, grandson, Brett Scott Engel, daughter, Tricia Kay Engel (Roger) Nelson, granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Nelson, all of Oshkosh; brother, Thomas (Shana) Engel, Las Vegas, Nevada; nephew, Derrick (Joy) Engel, Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces, Tara Engel, Washington, D.C.; and Tiffany Engel, Bradenton, FL; sister, Nancy (Richard) Thiele, Waupaca, WI.; niece, Amanda (Eric) Vestergaard, Menasha, WI; nephew, Thomas John (T.J.) Thiele, Waupaca, WI; father-in-law, Martin Wesenberg, Oshkosh, WI; sister-in-law, Debra (John) Herson, Johns Creek, GA; niece, Ainsley (Linell) Greene, Johns Creek, GA; nephews, Michael (Brandi) Herson, Johns Creek, GA; Taylor Herson, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Skyler Herson, Johns Creek, GA; sister-in-law, Jacquie Wesenberg, nieces, Jill (Matthew) Klug and Colleen (Jason) Botterman, all of Oshkosh; great- nieces and nephew, Grace and Riley Klug, Sophia and Ava Botterman, Oshkosh; and Jordan Greene, Johns Creek, GA. John is also survived by numerous cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Harold Engel, mother-in-law, Janice Wesenberg, brother-in-law, Steven Wesenberg and nephew, Reed Thomas Engel.

In lieu of flowers, donations to First Presbyterian Church, Oshkosh, the Oshkosh Area Humane Society, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

John's visitation and Witness to the Resurrection will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Avenue, Oshkosh on Saturday, Dec. 27. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon. John's Witness to the Resurrection will be at noon with The Reverend Dr. Thomas Willadsen officiating.

John's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Park View Health Center for the amazing skilled, dedicated, thoughtful, comfort and care John and his family received from everyone. We would like to also thank Aurora Hospital (2nd floor West), where John and his family received the finest of care and support. Thank you also to Hospice as they comforted John and the family in his final days.
