Beverly Ansorge Obituary

Ansorge, Beverly Murty Anderson

Beverly Murty Anderson Ansorge, 91, Stevens Point, died Nov. 26, 2012, at Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

She was born April 27, 1921, to the late Rodney S. Murty and Blanche Irene Etheridge in the town of Rose, Waushara County, Wisconsin. Her father delivered her because her doctor became stuck on a muddy road and couldn't make it in time. She went to school in Wild Rose and graduated from high school in 1938. She was an accomplished clarinetist also active in choral music, drama, and forensics. She went to college in Stevens Point for two years. Then she worked in Milwaukee, until she married Melvin Lewis Anderson on August 20, 1944, in Wild Rose. She moved to Orlando, Florida, where Melvin was stationed during World War II. They had two children, Pamela and Michael. While in Wild Rose, she taught Sunday school, was a Blue Bird leader, active in the Methodist church, PTA, and Women's Club. The marriage to Melvin ended in divorce in 1955 and Beverly began her teaching career at White River, a one room school outside of Wautoma. In the fall of 1956, she took a job teaching on the Indian Reservation in Lac du Flambeau. The next two years she taught in Phelps, Wisconsin. In the fall of 1959, she took a teaching job at Lincoln school in Stevens Point. She moved to Washington School next. She continued her education and received a Master's degree in Library Science. She worked in school libraries at Emerson, Jackson and Roosevelt. She retired in 1986. In 1975, she married Leslie Christian Ansorge in Gillett, Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the League of Women Voters, the Republican Party and the Wild Rose Historical Society. Following a hip fracture she moved to assisted living at Oakridge in Stevens Point. She was always interested in reading and continued to read even though she had memory loss. She wanted to watch FOX News even in the hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Anderson of Madison, WI; her son, Michael (Sue) Anderson of Prior Lake, Mn; two grandsons, Jeff, and Nathan (Marea); and 4 great-grandchildren, Bayan, Aidan, Michael and Olivia.

A Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Stevens Point, with Rev. Howard Hintzman officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from noon until time of service at the church. Burial will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Wild Rose, WI at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wild Rose Historical Society , P.O. Box 63, Wild rose, WI 54984.

Not sure what to say?

She was a beautiful person. She was the librarian at Emerson school and always had awesome ideas for books. Even later in life, she came into a store I was working at and remembered me. She will be missed.

My memory of Mrs. Anderson goes way back to the time they lived in Wild Rose. I am Judy Patterson McKenzie and I remember fondly that beautiful lady who was my friend Pam's mother. Her smile was most warming and she always had a minute to listen to the important thoughts of a child. God's Blessings to you all.

I loved visiting with Mrs. Anderson in our library at Emerson School. I remember that she liked Nixon, and even showed me a letter she received from him. She lived near and attended the church our family attended (St. Paul's) I remember riding my bike past her house on the way to or from Church, and seeing her in her garage with lots of stuff (and her daughter, Pam, whom I might have had a crush on :-)). I stopped to say hello, and she told me they were organizing for a garage sale. She asked me if there was anything I would like. I picked out a desk/table lamp. It was brass, but painted over. She said it didn't work. I said I'd fix it. I did. To this day, that lamp is on my desk, and I think of her every time I see it and use it. What a great person!

I remember "Mrs Anderson" fondly as my 4th grade teacher at Washington, and also as someone who was very nice to me when I was a pesky kid! My thoughts are with you, Pam and Mike, and to the rest of the family. Your mom was one of the good ones!

Mrs Anderson was my elementary school librarian at Emerson school. I thought she was so pretty and always had GREAT recommendations for books that suited me perfectly...even though I never would have chosen the book on my own. She turned me on to the "921" section of historic biographies and I had nearly read them all before leaving 6th grade. Thanks, Mrs. Ansorge, for your loving dedication to elementary school reading! You were the best ever.

Sorry for your loss. I still remember how helpful she was as a librarian at Emerson school. My son just started reading a book that I suggested to him that she had suggested to me when I had asked her for book advice.
