Resop Sr., Joseph Anthony

Joseph Anthony Resop Sr., age 95, of Rush Lake, Wis. died on Wednesday May 1, 2013, the Feast day of Saint Joseph the Worker, in Berlin.

He was born June 17, 1917, the 3rd child of Frank and Mary (Etrick) Resop.

As a husband, father, and grandfather he was dedicated to his family, and his Catholic Faith.

He attended St. Michael's School, served in World War II "Okinawa", and married Doris Emily Voeltner on October 28, 1939. They had celebrated 52 years of marriage before Doris died on August 19, 1992. Joe was a boxer, wrestler, ballplayer, welder, farmer, and worked at EAA until the age of 90. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Berlin, Knights of Columbus, VFW, and DAV.

He is survived by his children, Carol M Polk, of Montello; Joseph J and Nancy Resop of Berlin; Father Michael Resop of Plain; Dennis P and Stacy Resop of Oshkosh; Paul and Sue Resop of Rush Lake; and Jeff and Marcia Walker of Green Lake; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Grace Resop, Barbara Resop, Irma Voeltner, and Eloise Young; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Carl, Dorothy, Harold, George, Genevieve, Grace, and Alvin; his son, John; daughters, Sharon, Joann, and Betty; son-in-law, Bob Polk; and a great-grandchild Curtis Walker.

A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday May 6, 2013, at noon at the All Saints Catholic Church in Berlin (N 8566 state road 49 North of Berlin, 54923 ) with Father Michael Resop, presiding, Father Gary Krahenbuhl, homilist, Father Jerome Maksvytis, Pastor and many other Priests of the Madison Diocese.

A private family burial will be in the Saint Michael's Catholic Cemetery of Berlin at a later date.

Immediately following the services at the church all are invited to share a meal and fellowship with the family at the City Inn of Berlin, 689 Broadway St. 54923.

Relatives and friends may visit and pay their respects to Joe and his family on Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of downtown Berlin and may also visit at the Funeral Home on Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., before we leave for the services at the church.

As Joe would always say, "That's Life".
