Thomas Vought Obituary
Thomas Vought

Oshkosh - Thomas Edward Vought, 58, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at Atrium Post Acute Care of Neenah, on Saturday, July 7, from complications of a long illness. Born February 14, 1960, Tommy was the son of Ralph Vought and Mary (Pettingill) Johnson and stepson of Harold E. Johnson. Tommy grew up in Neenah and Menasha. He worked for many years in construction, much of that time alongside his beloved brother, Don Vought, and stayed close throughout his life with his sisters, Christy, Judy, Patti, and Kathy, never relenting in his ability to tease each of them mercilessly. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid fisherman, a talented mechanic, and his love for the music of Bob Dylan and Tom Petty were well known, as were his wisecracks, mischievous spirit, and not-so-well-hidden soft side. Circumstances kept them apart for many years, but his daughter, Sarah Marie, and his grandchildren were a great source of comfort and joy to him in his later years.

Tommy is survived by his sisters, Christine Vought of Indianapolis, Indiana; Judy and Patti Vought of Menasha; and Kathy Vought (Todd Wittman) of Neenah and by his daughter, Sarah Marie Vought, of Wrightstown, his grandchildren, Skye Marie, Chayd Allen, and Markus William, and four nephews and five nieces who will remember him fondly and will always be his little "units." He also leaves behind dozens of friends who won't soon forget their adventures together.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and stepfather; his sister Mary Sue, in 1965; his brother Robert, in 1967; and his brother Donald, in 2013.

His family would like to thank the loving Ascension hospice nursing staff, as well as the staff of Atrium Post Acute Care for helping make his transition a peaceful one. A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers donations to Tommy's memorial are preferred.
