Redgranite - June Rose Johnson (nee Malnory) age 94, a resident of Prairie Gardens Assisted Living in Sun Prairie, WI, a long-time resident of Redgranite, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018 at Prairie Gardens, where she had been residing since February of this year. June was surrounded by the love of her family.

June was born June 12, 1924 in the Township of Poy Sippi, Waushara County, Wisconsin, a daughter of Leslie and Tillie (Sperring) Malnory. She married Allen "Swede" Johnson on her birthday, June 12, 1948 in Oshkosh.

In her early years, June worked at the telephone company in Oshkosh. She was also employed as a cook at the Redgranite Grade School. June and her husband, Swede Johnson were the co-owner-operators of Johnson's Tavern in Redgranite until 1976. They carried on the family business started by Swede's father, Albert Johnson. June also had worked on the Redgranite Election Board for many years.

June's MOST important job was being a GREAT wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. Family is and always has been very important to the Johnson family.

June was also a fantastic baker. Her hickory cakes, really all her cakes, were legendary. She was a faithful, active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redgranite. She was also an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan.

Survivors include, a daughter, Connie (David) Kiekbusch of Madison, 5 sons, Albert Leslie (Connie Marie) Johnson of Sun Prairie, Gary Allen (Mary) Johnson of Germantown, WI, Stanley Dean Johnson of Redgranite, Gene Harlow (Debra) Johnson of Carmel, Indiana, and Robert Milo (Millie) Johnson of Missouri City (Houston), Texas; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Marc, Michael, Erik, Chelsea, Laura, Elizabeth, and Bryce; 5 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kennedy, Aiden, Audrey and Nito, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Allen "Swede", a son, Warren who died shortly after birth, a daughter, Dawn, who died in 1980, her parents, Leslie and Tillie Malnory, 2 brothers, Milo "Chub" Malnory and Harlow Malnory, and 4 sisters, Iola O'Keefe, Bernice Derr, Ardis Zuelke, and Mydell Malnory.

SERVICES: Funeral Services for June R. Johnson will be held Monday, October 15th. at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redgranite. (The Church is located on the East Side of Redgranite, South of Highway 21, across from the Shell Gas Station.) The Rev. Steve Davis and the Rev. Gene Krueger will officiate. Following these Services, there will be a lunch in the Parish Hall. June will then be laid to rest on the family plot in the Shead Island Cemetery, Town of Aurora.

VISITATION: Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite, and then at the Church Monday morning from 10:00 A.M. to 11: 00 A.M. prior to the time of Services.
