He was born July 20, 1946 in Oshkosh, the son of Duwayne Sr. and Marelline (Schimke) Bruley.

James was a graduate of Oshkosh West High School. He retired from SNC Manufacturing.

Jims favorite past time was playing cribbage. He would teach anyone who wanted to learn how to play cribbage. He loved to teach family & friends how to play solitaire and cribbage too. He mastered the Wii game of Duck Hunt and many games on his ipod. James was also an avid pool player. James loved the outdoors and had a great respect for nature. He lived his life exactly the way he wanted. It just so happened that he passed away on the fifteenth day of the second month which gave him one more "Fifteen-Two".

He was preceded in death by his father Duwayne Sr. (1983), his brother Duwayne "Butch" Jr. (2002), and his son-in-law, Sam Dolley (2006).
