Sept. 11th, Yes, today is 9-11 So many people died on 9-11 Sometimes I don't show how I feel because this is such a sad day for others. Yet, I too , lost the love of my life on this day in 2012. I missed him then , and I miss him still. Some day............

The Divide of Love
January 2, 2014 at 1:33am
Love is not young!
Love is not old!
Love is the greatest story ever told!
Life was filled with ecstasy!
Life was filled with fun.
But Time's eternal clock kept ticking,
My sweetheart had to run.
I missed him yesterday.
I missed him today.
He couldn't help it.
He had to go away.
Young love is taken for granted.
Old love is cherished more.
But when lovers are divided,
The heartaches hurt to the core.
Someday, I shall see his face.
Someday, he will walk through my door.
I'll never be alone again,
I'll love him for evermore................

" Keep Smiling" This was what Carl would say to family and friends, and so many people that he met!
October 1, 2013
Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.
Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.
Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.
In the world's broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!
Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act,— act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o'erhead!
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Carl loved this poem and would recite it from memory, many times in the last 50 plus years.

It took a "village" to have hospice at our home for Carl. It took faith, family, friends and firemen. Two firemen (both retired and active) came everyday to help us. It was so beautiful to witness their love for Carl during his greatest hour of need.

Another beautiful soul has left this world and so we mourn the loss of him. When we think of Carl, we remember his joy, faith, and devotion to his family, his friends, and his community. We loved Carl because, no matter what, he could always bring a smile to our faces - how rare a gift he was. For now, another soul has passed on to God's kingdom, but we know that he will greet us when our time comes; on that day we will smile and embrace him again. We miss you, Uncle Carl. Love, Ann Marie

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Chief Borg. He was the man who hired me in West Bloomfield. He was always a pleasure to be around. He always had a moment to say hi, tell a joke, or some type of story relevant to whatever he saw you doing. He will always hold a special place in my heart. I can only imagine the story he had for St. Peter when he got to the pearly gates. I imagine it had something to do with some story about how they had to jump over some gate or fence back in Highland Park when he first got on the job. I loved that man of yours Barbara. He was something special.

I was very sorry to read of the passing of Fire Chief Carl Borg. Carl was a kind and considerate leader who ran a wonderful department. He was a loyal employee of the Township of West Bloomfield and also participated in community activities as a former member of our Optimist Club. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. To his family, I offer my heartfelt condolences.

Dear Borg Family, We hope you realize how very much we loved Chief Carl. He was always so kind and polite right up until the end. We enjoyed many happy times with him and Barbara and he will surely be missed by all who knew him. My mother-in-law still has the cute little mouse trap with the painted mouse on it, in her kitchen. Such a talented man! Carl taught Jim everything that he would need to take over the job of Chief and he will forever be in his heart and mind. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. God Bless, Linda and Jim (Pop).
