Dawn Giroux Obituary

Dawn Marie Giroux, 71, passed peacefully in the night of March 26, 2021 in Pennsylvania. Born January 8, 1950 in Pontiac, Michigan, she was the daughter of Hank Giroux and Edna Marie Giroux. The family owned Giroux’s Groceries in Union Lake, Michigan. Dawn was a graduate of West Bloomfield Hills High School, and later attended Ferris State University where she studied Commercial Art. Dawn moved to California to further her Commercial Art career, working in the early days of Silicon Valley where she met her husband Michael. Dawn worked for Memorex, Burroughs Computer, and then Unisys Corporation, where she retired after 33 years as an Illustrator and Graphic Artist. Dawn had a wonderful sense of humor and was beloved by all, as well as animals. Dawn was an advocate for the ethical treatment of animals. Dawn could do anything and everything. She was a boater, water skier, a certified SCUBA diver, and she earned a Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate at age 50. Trap shooting, and Sporting Clays on weekends. She made quilts by hand, knitted numerous baby blankets, and she had flower, vegetable, and herb gardens on her acre property with a large pond. Dawn played the piano and accordion. As active and tenacious as Dawn was, she always made time to help friends and family, donating and volunteering for the less fortunate. When Dawn wasn’t helping someone, she was just enjoying their good company. God love her. Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Michael A Fernandez, sister-in-law Chris Giroux, and life-long friend Pamela Worster. She was preceded by her brother Scott Giroux and sister JoAnn Lovisa-Kasper. Dawn had a BIG life and she will be truly missed by all who knew her. Arrangements for Dawn will be at White Chapel in Troy, Michigan. She will be laid to rest next to her Mother and Father and other Giroux family members.

Can´t believe it´s been 4 years since Dawn left us. I still have her last voicemail on my phone that I listen to.

It´s been one year and I sure miss Dawn. I miss our monthly sharing and laughing phone calls. She always wanted to make sure I was ok. She was one special sister in law!

Dawn was a kind and sweet person, but if she had something to say...she will not sugar coat it. She was a straight shooter I’ll always remember her unique laugh (giggle). I can hear it now.
You will be truly missed but never forgotten. Until we meet again sweet Dawn. ❤❤❤

I’m sure going to miss my sister-in-law, Dawn. We would talk once a month for over an hour. She always wanted to make sure I was ok. She came to visit last year and we had the best time together! I now realize what a gift her visit was! I’m going to miss her so much and will keep the memories close in my heart.
