Robert Stillwell

OBERLIN — Robert H. Stillwell, 70, of Oberlin, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, at his home, following a brief illness. His wife and daughters were at his side.

He was born Feb. 28, 1945, in Elyria and was a lifelong area resident. A 1963 graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, and a 1967 Ohio University graduate, he worked most recently as a self-employed real estate appraiser. Prior to his career in real estate, Robert was a commercial photographer and graphic artist. From 1968 to 1976 he was the photographer for Oberlin College. He later owned a studio in Sandusky.

Robert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maryann (nee Papay); daughters Lisa Stillwell of Lancaster, Pa., and Kristen Stillwell of Oberlin; mother, Mary Margaret Stillwell of Elyria; sister, Mary Haupt of Owego, N.Y.; brothers Fred Stillwell of Grafton and David Stillwell of Elyria; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Stillwell; and a brother, Richard Stillwell.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 23 from 4-7 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Friends are also welcome to attend a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Thomas Hagedorn will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date.
