When I say George was an acquaintance, what I mean to say is that Mr. Elliott was pretty much acquainted with everyone. A true character, devoted to his community and supportive in so many ways. The fact that he was an artist, provided the means by which to document and preserve life in Peterborough, capturing the drum beat of a proud City in his translations of heritage buildings, landmarks, logos, and people. Mr. Elliott could always be counted upon to give a hand, lend support (who could forget his unique auctioneering skills...), and contribute to cause and community in lasting and meaningful ways, without ever once given to grandstanding.
He was one of a kind, and we are all better for the honour of knowing him.

I am sitting here in Yorkton Saskatchewan and was looking at one of the many George Elliott prints we have hanging in our home. I thought I would Google George too find out what he was up to only to see he passed away a week ago. George, you are one of a kind and will be missed on this earth but welcomed with open arms in heaven.

A true community leader with a smile for everyone. I clearly remember his induction into the Pathway of Fame. The entire Peterborough region is blessed with Georges legacies. My deepest sympathies.

I had the pleasure of growing up with George in church, high school and as a neighbour. We participated in many activities together whether it be skiing on some of Peterborough drumlin hills, skating at the Memorial Centre, numerous youth functions, track and field, etc. George was always competitive and ready for a challenge. Christmas often saw us engrossed in all-day monopoly games or struggling through Rook or Uno games with George and Carol. George was sometimes provocative causing one to think why one believed what they did but he never held it against you if you did not agree with him. A loyal friend. My wife and I have greatly appreciated George's artwork. It has been a true privilege to know George.

Oh George and his great talent! He was always supportive of many of my creative projects as well as many many other people's projects and talents. Most of all, his wit and sense of humour made every one of our interactions fun, mixed with a blend of learning something new. He is one of the great Peterborians and will always be remembered for his local contributions - may he rest in piece.

For many years I swam with George at the Holiday Inn. He was a great story teller and a fun friend. We often chatted about dogs and horses, which he loved. He will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathy to the family.

George, Norm, Trudy, Italia, Elizabeth and I made up a great team at the OMC Art Department. I think we were blessed to have the most fun (in my opinion) in the office. The people made it fun and we did very good work. George was a very accomplish artist, mostly self taught and his architectural renderings are nationally respected. his publishing partner (Examiner Editor) Ed Arnold and George produced some of the best illustrated books on Peterborough and his passion for local sports produced many many Sport Celebrity Portraits used in the Memorial Centre and books. Two of his wonderful kids I had the pleasure of knowing some, both as models (Andrea) in photo shoots and his son (Paul) passion in the photography business. George had a laugh you could recognize a mile away. RIP old friend, you made an indelible mark on this community and me. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Andrea, Paul, Aaron and families.

I was saddened to hear of Georges passing as I am sure will all of his former workmates at OMC. George and his "studio", which was located on the ground floor at OMC, was a commanding presence where he made everyone feel welcome whether your visit was work related or not. He was the cultural centre of the entire plant. Bon voyage George. You will be missed.

I was saddened to read of George's passing. Being a resident of Louis St. as a young boy myself, I first met George when he would visit his Grandparents who lived on Charlotte St. A friendship developed that lasted over the years. When I would return to Peterborough for a visit, I would connect with George and enjoyed our conversations about Peterborough. Many pieces of his artwork decorate my home and bring back fond memories. He was a one of a kind guy and will certainly be missed. My condolences to the whole family at this difficult time.

George had a marvelous sense of humour and loved life. I have one of his pictures on my wall and I look at it daily - a beautiful flower. George provided many people with joy from his life's work and I am glad to have known him.
