My hubby, then boyfriend & I would go to the Savarin Restaurant on Bay Street to see Ray perform, in the 1970s. He had a lovely voice & great stage presence.
Good memories.

I recently heard Ray's song entitled "My Heart Will Never Know", and it sounded like Roy Orbison singing that song. In any case, that song turned me on because Ray had a great voice, and that song had the beat and tune songs Roy Orbison's songs. I never even knew Ray Hutchinson was Canadian, or that he had already passed on. Well, he'll now be able to sing with all the angels in Paradise forevermore

I often saw Ray playing at the Brass Rail Tavern in London Ont, back in the early 60's. I wasn't old enough to be in the bars but I was always able to borrow someone's ID. I saw him also in Sarnia ON in a house on Christina St that someone had converted into an eatery and entertainment club. I purchased his LP from him which he also autographed for me. I only played it once as I taped it. I still have that LP (on Car-Ver records) which was recorded at The Castlemore in Toronto with backup group Nevada. I also took my parents to see him at the Breslau Hotel near Kitchener ON in 1963. They were really impressed with his talent especially with his rendition of Mario Lanza's 'Be My Love'. My future wife and her best friend used to swoon over his blue eyes. It was unfortunate that he was hit by a car in Miami Florida in 1988, which put him in the hospital in a coma for 2 months. It took Ray a long time to recuperate from those injuries. I have a thirteen-year-old grandson who is a talented, budding musician and I´m sure going to introduce him to Ray´s music along with the likes of the late Ronnie Hawkins whom I followed all over Ontario back in the good old days. RIP Ray, it's been a long, arduous journey and thanks for the music!

I knew Ray for many years and considered him a good friend. We spent many hours chatting when he was in Hamilton after his many shows at the Grange. He was a gifted individual who overcame so many obstacles to become a Canadian treasure in the music business. I am so sorry to have lost contact with him although our connection will last for a very long time.

April 5 2022 I'm in shock to here that my dear friend Ray has passed - I have known Ray since -1963 and my late husband and I traveled everywhere to see him perform- he had the voice of an angle. I didn't get to see him in the past few years but did visit at the retirement home and always sent him birthday cards and Christmas cards. I will miss my friend dearly-rest in peace my friend. My heartfelt condolences to Ray's Family and Friends. I spent wonderful times at The Grange in Hamilton and The Embassy in Toronto, in the 1960's listening to Ray singing. "Tina" was my favourite. I have continued to follow his career and life story. Ray was a wonderful man who will be missed but remembered.

Thanks for the music and the memories, we loved seeing him at the Grenadier Room and other locations in town. So impressive when he walked through the audience singing on his wireless Microphone as he walked on stage. We are fans and sad to hear of his passing.
