Debra NICHOLS Obituary

Passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Center, on Sunday September 13, 2020. Deb Nichols of Lakefield was a 27-year employee of Trent University. Beloved wife of Ronald "Ron" Nichols. Loving mother of Jason "Cory" Nichols (Brandy). Deb is fondly remembered by her grandchildren Abbygail and Tyler. Deb is survived by her brother Rob Mace (Lise), nieces Jennifer (Anton), Michelle and great niece Emma. Dear Cousin of Brad (Val), Leslie Cowan, Candace (Raf), and Sophie. Fondly Remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Dorothy Mace, and sister Sandy Stewart. Cremation has taken place. The family is planning a private celebration of life at a late date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the yellow ribbon campaign by contacting HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES LAKEFIELD CHAPEL at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705 652-3355. Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, and danced the skies on laughter. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds. I've swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there I've chased the shouting wind along through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious burning blue, I've topped the wind- swept heights with easy grace, where never lark, or even eagle, flew; and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Dear Ron, Cory and family -
I'd like to extend my deepest sympathies to you during your time of loss. I enjoyed working with Deb in Academic Skills at Trent; she was witty and scrappy. She was also thoughtful and supportive to me during hard time; she shared pieces of her garden and gardening lessons with me at a time when I needed it.
I hope you and your family find comfort in your loving memories of Deb.

Ron, Cory and family. I am so sorry to hear of Deb's passing. She was a great friend and co worker for many years. Our time working together at the Bookstore and Academic Skills Centre made coming to work a pleasure and going into work as little elves to decorate the office for Christmas. Each year adding to the display. I visited with her in July and we talked about those times and had a few laughs. Those and many more memories I will cherish forever. She will be sadly missed by all.

We went through high school, attached at the hip. Same classes from grade 9 to 12....always in a competition for the best marks! It was an honour to be her bridesmaid, and her long time friend. When she moved into Lakefield she wanted to get involved and help Support our Troops. She made hundreds of Yellow Ribbon Lapel Pins. Deb and Ron donated Generously towards purchasing the goodies we (the Yellow Ribbon Campaign) send to soldiers overseas. We are humbled and grateful to be beneficiaries and in your memory the Yellow Ribbon Campaign will continue to send our Boxes of Goodies to Soldiers serving in Ukraine this Christmas. Rest Peacefully my Friend! xoxo

Ron, Cory and family. I am so sorry to hear of Deb's passing. She was a great confidant to me and friend. Our weekend away in DC will never be forgotten. Her laughter will stay in my memory forever. She will be sadly missed by all. Earth has lost a very generous loving soul but heaven has gained the best gardener! Keep her close to your heart. You will feel her.
