Frederick "Jay" Bletzinger Obituary
Frederick "Jay" Bletzinger

PLYMOUTH - Frederick "Jay" Bletzinger originally of Park Ridge, Ill., passed peacefully on Aug. 14, surrounded by his family at St. Joseph's Hospital in Plymouth.
Once a pioneer in the point of sale payment systems as Chief Executive within the business founded by his father, Chicago Cash Register, Jay was a dedicated steward of the organization through the 1970 to 1990's. Later, Jay evolved the family business through his passion for his last retail venture based in Culver.
A graduate of Miami University in 1963, Jay was a jovial character on the football field, as an United States Air Force reservist, flying a plane, in hockey stands, and later in life playing fetch with his beloved Doberman, Jazz at his home in Culver.
Proud father of four Culver Academies graduates; Jason (and Kara) Bletzinger of Carmel, Indiana; Dr. Joshua (and Julie) Bletzinger of Batavia, Ill.; Jessica (and Robby) Martin of Carmel; and Jocie (and Matthew) Coletti of Boston, Mass., Jay grew to be an adopted son of Culver in his later years.
Jay is also survived by his eight grandchildren and sisters, Lynn Hammersmith and Judy Ennis, both of Park Ridge, Ill., and many nieces and nephews.
A private gathering will be held for family only.
Any condolences may be made in the form of a donation to the Culver Academies, 1300 Academy Road, Culver, Ind. 46511, in the name of Frederick "Jay" Bletzinger.
