CANTON, Mich. - Harold Sutton, 89, of Canton, Mich., passed away Friday, June 29, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Livonia, Mich.
Harold was born on Dec. 28, 1928, in Plymouth, to Harry and Geraldine (Van Gilder) Taber. He attended Lincoln High School, with the class of 1947 and received his GED while serving in the United States Army. Harold was a Veteran of World War II, where he received the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal, Japan.
Harold graduated from Indiana College of Mortuary Science, Indianapolis, in 1950. He became a licensed embalmer and funeral director in Indiana. He was later employed with Westfield Insurance in Ohio, Michigan, and California. He retired, after 35 years as Claims Manager, where he worked in Plymouth, Mich. and Canton, Mich.
He is survived by his son, Rick Sutton and daughter, Suzanne Vyvyan, both of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Lou Helmbrecht; his brother, Bob Sutton; and his step-father, Harvey Sutton.

Private family services were held.
Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, handled the local arrangements for the family.
