Died in Blenheim on Monday, July 14, 2025. Aged 88 years. Born Waikouaiti, August 3, 1936, son of the late Lance and Charlotte Kerr, brother of the late Birtles, Wilfred and Garth Kerr, and brother-in-law of the late Merle, Georgina and Betty Kerr. Uncle and good friend of Ross, Murray and Robyn Kerr, Bruce Kerr, Jenny Haley, the late Lynette Kerr, and the late Elizabeth Kerr. Respected for his Christian faith and Presbyterian commitment. Teacher at Marlborough College 1961-1994. Subsequently its archivist for a decade, and initial housemaster of the college's Innes House, army cadets unit, range shooting, and outdoor education. Other interests included tramping, and walking, Marlborough Sounds boating and fishing, driving, exploring and caravanning, organist, photographer, outdoor biking, book collecting, genealogy, historian (several publications), and Brayshaw Heritage Park and provincial archives. A funeral service for Lloyd will be held at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 5 Henry Street, Blenheim, at 11.00am, on Saturday, July 19. I think it was Lloyd's first year and I can still recall him driving up and parking in Stephenson St. in his beautiful MG open top.As a car crazy schoolboy I was most impressed.Never taught me but good feedback from others.

Lloyd (Fly) taught me Social Studies in 1971 and Geography in 1974. He was a teacher who set high standards and we responded in kind. You knew his expectations and boundaries. I was talking to a colleague about him just the other day - specifically his ability to draw freehand maps of Europe! Mr Kerr will have impacted an enormous number of lives - including those of us who became teachers and hope to have a similar impact.
