A note from Erin, Michael, Jo and John. It is with heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of our amazing Dad, John. Dad has spent the past year and a half battling a challenging illness with such bravery and strength. We are all extremely sad but relieved that he can now rest peacefully with our beloved Mum, his loving wife, Robyn. Dad loved and thought the world of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Laura, Hannah, Bridget, Hugo, Ruby, Isobel, Luke and Ollie gave Dad such wonderful memories, and he was incredibly proud of you all. Dad leaves behind his beloved sister Jill. Dad was so lucky to have such a loving sister, and Jill has spent much time with Dad and us throughout his tough final journey, giving unwavering love and support. There have been great stories and memories of lives well-lived shared over the past while - very special times. Dad enjoyed a loving upbringing with Jill, their older brother Terry, and their parents, Jack and Margaret in Tawai Street, Trentham. We are respecting Dad's wishes and holding a private memorial to say goodbye and let Dad be at peace with Mum. To all of his wider family, friends, and work colleagues over the years, we thank you all for being a part of his amazing life, for all of the wonderful times and support you have shown our Dad. Dad was blessed to have incredible care from both the District Nursing Team at Lower Hutt Hospital and from the entire team at Shona McFarlane Retirement Village, Lower Hutt. At Dad's request, in place of sending flowers, our family would love it if you would very kindly donate to the Cancer Society NZ,
