Jagdev ATHWAL Obituary
Of Maple Ridge, BC and village Chitti, India left us on January 30, 2015 with his loving wife of 48 years Davindar at his side. Grieving his loss are his son George; daughter-in-law Lorraine, daughter Sonia and grandchildren Marcus, Victoria and Simon. Born December 7, 1940, Jagdev grew up a sportsman in Jalandhar, India, excelling in shot put and discus throughout his high school, college and military years. He served until 1967 in the 8 Gorkha Rifles, 6th Battalion at the rank of Captain. He first arrived in Canada in April 1967 and settled in Maple Ridge, where he built his successful trucking business and raised his family for the next 47 years. A hard- working and respected member of our community, Jagdev served on the committee of the Khalsa Diwan Society, Vancouver. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 7, 2015 at Riverside Funeral Home, 7410 Hopcott Road, Delta BC. Prayer Services to follow at the India Cultural Centre, 8600 Number 5 Road, Richmond BC.
