Audrey Becker Obituary

Loving Mother of Sandy Wilcox (Nigel Grinsteed), Steve, Rod (Cheryl Becker), Pam Becker. Proud Grandmother of Mike Becker (Rebecca Becker) and Katelin Becker. Great Grandmother of Landon Becker. Sister of Nyle Eby. Predeceased by infant brother Eldon Ross Eby (d.1925), her dearly loved husband Donald Roy Becker (d. 1993) and deeply saddened by the loss of Grandson Daniel Becker (d. 2020).
Sandy, Nigel, Rod and Cheryl were blessed to spend Mom's final three days by her side.
Mom was born at home to parents Isaiah and Dora Eby (Hallman) and grew up in Williamsburg, Ontario, and attended Williamsburg school, where Helena Feasby was her favorite teacher. At 16, Mom left the farm to work at J.M. Schneider's, in Kitchener, where she was crowned "Miss Schneider 1949" - she still had great legs!
Audrey married the love of her life, Don in 1950. Life soon changed with the birth of four children in five years. Their social circle increased through their shared interests in family, Church, square dancing, bowling, theatre, and travel. Mom's other interests included Women's Institute, volunteering, and several senior's groups. Mom also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and mall walking. Mom showed her creativity through crafts, ceramics, sewing, and knitting. Mom always had a wonderful sense of style (at Winston Park she was known as the purple Lady).
Mom was inspired to build a brand new house at the age of 80 and enjoyed living there for many years. She decided to move to the Village of Winston Park Retirement in May 2017, where she nurtured many new friendships. Mom enjoyed the entertainment and social activities that were offered and certainly enjoyed not having to cook! Life changed for everyone when Covid struck. Audrey showed great strength throughout her whole life, meeting adversity head on, putting one foot in front of the other, and moving forward inspiring others to do the same. Mom was a lifelong member of the United Brethren Church. Her unwavering faith comforted her. Because of that faith she was unafraid in her final days.
Mom was also a generous person. She sponsored a quiet room at Grand River Hospital, a research room at the Research Institute for Aging (RIA) and supported Roseville United Brethren Church. She was very generous to her family.
In a recent interview, Mom was asked to make any comment about her life, using just one sentence - without hesitation she replied "I love all my children".
A private family service will be held for Audrey. If desired, donations to the Food Bank, or Mennonite Central Committee can be made in Audrey's memory (cards available at Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener, Ontario, N2E 2X5)
Life is not a matter of milestones but of moments. Thank you Mom for All The Moments.
