Jantina HOFSTRA-JAGT Obituary

HOFSTRA-JAGT, Jantina (nee Kuper) Of Moorefield, passed away surrounded by the love, tears and laughter of her family in Moorefield on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2019 in her 98th year. Grateful for the mother that she was to Jackie (Coba) De Jong and Ken Rae of Walkerton, Janet and Alex Van Niekerk of Listowel, Albert and Willeke Jagt of Nottawa, Teresa and Dirk Dekker of Moorefield and Henry Jagt and Pat Thompson of Clifford. She was a devoted and loving Oma for 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She will be remembered as a special lady by the Hofstra family whom she always spoke fondly of; Linda, Hannah, Anne, Andy, Gerry and Joyce and their families. Jantina was predeceased by her husband Bouke Jagt whom she married on November 30, 1945 and passed away February 2, 1991 and her husband Gabe Hofstra whom she married November 27, 1999 and passed away December 4, 2011. She was also predeceased by her daughter Alberdina (1948) in infancy and grandson Corey Dekker (2005). Mom loved to have her family around her, especially the little ones, and continually gave her heart (and knitting) to show her love. She also blessed many others by knitting many, many preemie hats and teddy bears. Since her eyesight deteriorated, she spent many hours singing her favourite hymns and songs that she knew by heart. We were blessed to have her as our matriarch. ""Ere Zij God!"" The family will receive friends at the Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, Drayton on Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held in Community Mennonite Fellowship Church, Drayton on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Spring interment in Bethesda Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Ramouth House or Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family.
