On March 6, 2021 May Flegel (née Groleau) passed away peacefully at Columbia Forest Long Term Care Home in Waterloo Ontario as a result of an accidental fall in January. May was in her 89th year and for 67 of them was loved by and cared for by her adoring husband Edwin Flegel. Ed will forever mourn her loss along with their sons Michael (Phyllis) and Brian (Judy) and daughters Jeannette Boak (Peter) and Susan Cooper (Tim). She also leaves behind grandsons Kellen, Eric, Kevin, Kyle, and Bryan and great grandson Jeffrey Paul. May loved to be the centre of attention and her grandsons were more than willing to make that happen. May was a devoted and caring wife and mother. May loved to sing in the choir, but also go dancing with Ed where she would dress up in her custom silk dresses and always look like a glamorous star. She loved to travel with Ed and they visited many destinations, but her favourite was going to Las Vegas and playing Let it Ride where she always seemed to have a lucky streak. She loved to host big Christmas Day gatherings with family and friends and would cook and bake for days preparing. We all looked forward to December just so we could feast on her apple strudel and cabbage rolls. I think May would be the first to say she was blessed with a wonderful life. May was predeceased by her mother Eva and her sisters Jean, Rose, Theresa, and Georgette. Cremation has already taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences for the family and donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada can be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. May's family would like to thank the staff at Columbia Forest for the care provided her these past three years.

My sincere condolences to May's family and friends. I did not know May, but am a colleague of one of her grandchildren. You are in my thoughts.
