Rodney Preece Obituary
It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Dr Rodney John Charles Preece on July 22nd, 2021 at his home in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, England.
Survived by his loving partner, Janet Penny (nee Dunn) and his two children Richard Preece (Cynthia) of Waterloo and Rebecca Henderson (Rob) of Mount Forest. He was predeceased by his wife Lorna Chamberlain of Sarnia.
Rod was born in Cheadle, Cheshire England on Aug 15th 1939 to parents Bert Preece and Ivy Preece (nee Mills) He studied philosophy and politics and accepted a full time position lecturing with the University of Leicester, England.
In 1969 Rod came to Canada for an opportunity to lecture for one year at University of Waterloo. He loved Canada and accepted a full-time position in Waterloo with University of Waterloo then later with Wilfrid Laurier University where he taught political science.
Rod published over 18 books and had many interests including antiques, sports, animal rights and music. He owned an antique store for many years in Waterloo and was actively involved with the Progressive Conservative Party and the Ontario SPCA.
Rod returned to his home in Cheadle in 2013 after being reunited with a past girlfriend from his school-days.
At Rod's request, there will be no service or celebration of life.
