On March 14, 2021, Sanjeev Shankar passed away at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife, Sunita Shankar, and his sons, Rohan and Sameer Nair. Sanjeev was born in Trivandrum, India. He received his Bachelor of Engineering at SJCE in Mysore, and his Master of Engineering from Virginia Tech. Sanjeev was a cybersecurity expert, and spent most of his career in software leadership roles in Waterloo. Sanjeev is best known for his fitness, humour, and his love of music and learning. He was an enthusiastic conversationalist, and was often leaned on for advice. He was an instigator of many adventures and fun memories with his very large circle of friends. His dog Misty helped him stay fit as he walked the neighbourhood, sharing a smile and a warm conversation with anyone who would spare a chat. Sanjeev's family and close friends will be holding a private memorial, and funeral, on Tuesday.

I was so sad to learn today that Sanjeev had passed away. I worked with him at Trustwave for many years and always thought he was a wonderful person. So kind. Prayers and condolences to the family.
