DAVIE, Ronald and Joan Miriam It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Davie at the age of 93 on January 15, 2020 and Joan Miriam Davie (nee Hill) at the age of 94 on February 16, 2021. Ron was born January 25, 1926 in Shanghai, China and Joan was born January 13, 1927 in Croydon, England. At age 14 Ron and his mother were confined in a Japanese internment camp until the end of WWII. In 1945 Ron was "repatriated" to Bournemouth, England where he met and fell in love with Joan. They were married in 1951 and had a full and adventurous life together. They emigrated to Canada and worked their way west from Guelph Ontario to North Vancouver, calling the North Shore their home for the past 45 years. They continued to enjoy travelling including Coastal BC, England, the Cook Islands, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Ron worked as an engineering methods analyst and served in a volunteer capacity at Lions Gate Hospital. Joan worked for many years in rehabilitation services with the Lions Gate Hospital. Ron's wry wit, friendship and limitless trove of stories of his early years in China will all be missed. Joan loved gardening and playing bridge with friends. Her friends and neighbours will remember Joan for her elegance, her gentle humour and steadfast friendship. Many thanks to the staff at Amica Lions Gate and Dr. Barre for their support and caring. Donations can be made in Ron and Joan's memory to the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation At Ron and Joan's wishes, there will not be a service. Final arrangements have been entrusted to First Memorial Boal Chapel, North Vancouver.
