Judith Huerter Obituary
May 30, 1938 - Dec. 6, 2017 Vacaville Judy Huerter 79, of Vacaville, CA, passed away at home Dec. 6, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born May 30, 1938 in Greeley, CO, to Dan and Mildred Straight. Judy's mother died shortly after Judy graduated from high school in 1956, and it was after this difficult time that Judy joined the Catholic Church. It was her strong Catholic faith that sustained her at that time, and throughout her life, especially in her final days. After high school, Judy attended Colorado State College studying accounting, and then worked for the CPA firm Bergdahl and Bergdahl in Greeley. It was at church in 1958 that she met her future husband Gerald (Jerry) Huerter, who had recently been discharged from the Navy. On Aug. 20, 1960 she married Jerry, the love of her life for 57 years until her passing. To this union was born their three beautiful daughters, Belinda, Lisa and Pamela. After Jerry's graduation from Colorado State College, the newlyweds began a journey of living in seven different states as Jerry's career progressed. The journey ended when they finally settled in Vacaville, in 1987. Judy's caring and giving personality was evidenced by her work career. After pouring her heart into raising her girls, she returned to the work force as an office manager at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Portland, OR. When Jerry's next move was to Minneapolis, MN, she became the office manager for a women's shelter. After moving to Fresno, CA she worked as a food service coordinator at St. Agnes Hospital. Following their final move to Vacaville, she found great joy and wonderful friends during her 22 years working in the Career Services and Accounting Departments at the University of California Davis Law School. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering at the Mondavi Center in Davis, and spending time with her dear friends from the dog park and San Jose Court in Vacaville. Nothing brought Judy more joy than entertaining friends and family. She had a special knack for living in the moment and brought everyone else along for the ride. Judy and Jerry are longtime members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville, where they were involved with the Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick and the Helping Hands Ministry. Special thanks to St. Mary's Eucharistic Ministers Alicia, Marie, Maurice, Barbara, Deacon Rob and Sherry, as well as Father Mike, who all helped Judy immensely in her final months. Judy is survived by her loving family - husband, Jerry; daughter, Belinda and husband, Vince Evans from Vallejo; daughter, Lisa and husband, Alan Ramsey from Minnetonka, MN; daughter, Pam and husband, Jim Thompson also from Minnetonka, MN, and her two nieces, Marilyn Lyons and Charee Voelz. Judy was also grandma to three wonderful grandchildren, Brent and Stephanie Ramsey, and Christopher Thompson. In addition she will be greatly missed by her beloved dog, Kiwi and several "granddogs" and grandcats". A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville, on Dec. 20, at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow at the church. Burial will be in Greeley, CO at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Mary's Building Fund, 350 Stinson Ave., Vacaville, CA 95688, or Marin Humane, 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd, Novato, CA 94949.
