Bill "Tex" Glover Sr., 77, of Vacaville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at his home after a long illness. He was born in Louisiana, raised in Beaumont, Texas, attended Texas A&M and was a Benicia resident for almost 40 years before moving to Vacaville in 1997. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War and the United States Navy from 1950-1954.
Bill worked as a welding supervisor at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for more than 33 years, retiring in 1985. Following his retirement, he worked as a people greeter at Wal-Mart in Vacaville for more than 10 years. He was a member of Vallejo Elks Lodge No. 559 and an avid motorcycle rider.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean; son, Billy J. (JoAnne) Glover Jr. of Benicia; daughters, Bobbie Jo (Terry) Hurst of Vacaville, Mary Kay Mann of Fairfield and Trudy Ann (Richard) Brown of Susanville; sisters, Sarah Nell and Betty Jean Glover of Beaumont, Texas; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his cousin, Jouett (Gary) Gardner of Lake Jackson, Texas.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, 901 West Second St., Benicia.
Burial will follow in St. Dominic's Cemetery.
A visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the chapel.
