Henry Ryzner Obituary
Henry R. “Hank” Ryzner, 89, a longtime resident of Hatfield, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at his residence in Dock Meadows. He was preceded in death by his wives, Irene (Baer) Wolfe Rice Ryzner and Margaret (Wilkie) Darde Ryzner. Born in Hatfield on May 5, 1928, he was a son of the late Frank V. & Rosalie M. (Pulak) Ryzner. Hank graduated from Lansdale High School in 1946, and played football at Crawford Stadium, home of the Knights. Hank was a private 1st Class in the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division, Unit 9, B Company. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart due to being seriously wounded in action by a missile in the North Korea Sector on September 23, 1951. He was a member of the Bell Club Stock Car Racing Organization, Car #78. He mainly raced at Hatfield Speedway, but would also race at Municipal Stadium, Sanatoga, and Wilmington, among others. For most of his life, he was a Union carpenter, retiring at the age of 59. He enjoyed snow birding in Naples, FL for many years. Hank also had interest in bowling, golfing, NASCAR, and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, holding season tickets for many years. Hank is survived by his step-son, Mark Darde (Connie), of Hatfield; his grandson, Robert Darde (Michelle), of Lansdale; two great granddaughters, Megan & Rachel Darde; and also a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his sister, Veronica Rothenberger; and two brothers, Chester & Theodore Ryzner. Relatives and friends will be received on Monday, February 12, after 6:00 p.m. and until 7:30 p.m. in the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale. Interment will be held privately at the request of Hank’s family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hank’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to the Glioblastoma Foundation, P.O.Box 62066, Durham, NC 27715. Arrangements entrusted to the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
