WILLIAM FREDERICK SMART

The Smart family regrets to announce the passing of WILLIAM "BILL" FREDERICK SMART at 94 years of age, on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025, at his home in Silver Spring, Maryland. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan; his daughters Joanna (Smart) Todd and Christina Smart; his grandson Patrick Todd and son-in-law Bill Todd.Originally from Bradford, England, Bill moved to Bermuda in 1963, starting as a pressman with the Globe Press, eventually becoming the manager and running the business until he left the island in 1985. It was also in Bermuda that he met his wife of 57 years, Joan, and where his two daughters, Joanna and Christina were born.In Bermuda, Bill built a wonderful life for himself and his family, gaining many lifelong, cherished friends. An avid cricket player and golfer, Bill was a member of both Castle Harbour and Belmont golf clubs. His 22 years in Bermuda with his family and friends formed some of his happiest memories. A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Potomac, Maryland, on Friday, July 18th, 2025, at 11am.
