I’ve known Brian for 21 years. An honest, unassuming, and friendly personality that complemented his incredible knowledge and mechnical skills regarding bikes and many other DIY projects. A great sense of humour which we shared over some dinners, at my house, and while shooting the breeze at Central Cycle. Several years ago I formed and managed a Masters triathlon relay team in which Brian was the middle leg – the cyclist. They only entered one event but came 2nd overall – beating everyone but one individual. Due to a minor mishap, the team would have easily beat everyone, solo competitors and teams. I remember being the spotter for the race Commissaire while you drove and during some casual chatter, I put 2&2 together: the Commissaire rode in the ‘64 & ‘68 Olympics for Hungary and you rode for Canada in ‘72 & ‘76. That brought some joy and bonding during race officiating! RIP old friend. I’m sorry I never got a chance to get out to Simcoe for a ride with you. You will never be forgotten.

I knew Brian on Garth street in the 1950s as a young boy. He and I were best buds for a couple of years and are the same age within a month. I am sorry for his early demise and wish his family the best.

So sorry to learn of Brian's passing. I was new to Canada when I met Brian, a teenager, a member of the Hamilton Cycling Club. Brian soon showed his abilities at our local events and moved on to become a member of our '76 Olympic squad. I moved away and was happy to meet him again, now riding as a veteran at an event in the Ottawa region. My best memory is of Brian and Ray Vize performing in a roller race in Centennial
Park on the shore of Lake Ontario on a bright summers day in the late sixties, photo attached. My sincere condolences to those left to mourn his passing.

My most sincere condolences and deep sadness to a long and very dear friend! As teenagers, we were good friends! I lost touch over the years, I wish I had known sooner, of his Sickness, I would have made an effort to go see him!

Brian was one of the best bosses of my working career of forty years; he was a humble and great mechanic. He had a new customer come in with a set of Campagnolo shift brake levers fully disassembled in a bag. Every other Bike shop in Hamilton had laughed at this customer because it was way beyond their skill level. i think Brian took the job as a challenge. In the end he only charged the customer $60, but it was worth way more, but that's the kind of guy Brian was. He will be greatly missed.

What an unassuming great all round guy. I knew Brian for years as he ran Central Cycle I can remember both being in our later years at a Bicycle Trade Show. We were talking about the changes in the industry looking around at all the younger dudes moving into the industry. Without saying anything we both pulled out our tucked in T-Shirts put on a couple of KHS Flat brimmed hats and laughed.
You'll be missed Brian....

Unassuming and humble was what I would describe Brian in the days we rode competitively both on the road and track. The years have passed but my memory has not changed of this man as his smile along with his laugh would still resonate putting smiles on our faces. A fierce
competitor grinding those big gears I often wondered how he did it in amazement.
Rest in Peace Brian and may your family enjoy the fond memories they have of you as that is all we are all left with and we in Western Canada salute you as it has been a privilege that our paths have crossed.
To your family our hearts are with you in this time of grief God Bless and keep you all safe. A friend Roy Fondse Winnipeg, Manitoba
