Christina Kitamura Obituary

(September 30, 1946 - October 14, 2021)

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. Christina "Chris" was born in Hastings, England 75 years ago to loving parents Kathleen Anne Sherwood and Robert William Sherwood. In 1954 Chris emigrated to Canada with her parents and sister Janet. Settling in Hamilton, brother Rick and sister Kathy soon followed.
Chris married the love of her life Yoshio "Yosh" 54 years ago and was a supportive and loving wife. With hard work and dedication, Chris and Yosh raised their children Robert and Tina by providing a happy and nurturing home. She was the proudest mother.
Chris worked as an Educational Assistant with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board until her retirement. Away from work she cherished the moments spent with her family and her beloved feline companions Sushi and Kiko.
Chris loved dearly her grandchildren Nathan and Wyatt. She attended their many hockey games, school concerts and other occasions with joy. Her presence will be missed greatly.
Chris often wore a smile and shared her positive outlook with everyone. This was one of her greatest strengths which carried her throughout life, setting an example for all of us.
Chris will be missed dearly by everyone who was touched by her presence. Her support, companionship and warm smile will be missed. She will forever be in our hearts and special memories. We love you and we miss you.
Children: Robert (Molly). Tina Scozzari (Charles). Sister: Janet Chisholm (David). Brother: Rick (Jane).
Following Chris' wishes, cremation has taken place with a private celebration to follow.
Memorial donations in Chris' name may be made to Mission Services or to a charity of your choice.

I met Chris when I began teaching at Dr. Davey School. She was often the voice of reason and calmness in a very busy school. She looked after the kids she was assigned to in a very caring and positive way. She made school a pleasant place to be for those kids with special needs. She was a very special person. Even though I hadn't talked to her on a while, my wife (who has known Chris for most of her life) and I regularly talled about her. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers to her family.

Deepest condolences to Yosh and family. Only knew Yosh from playing Police Minor Hockey in Hamilton. We were on the Midget allstar team. Great guy and wonderful teammate as I recall.
