I’m very sorry to hear of Dr.Hotz passing. He was my childhood paediatrician and I adored him. He was so kind and truly made a lasting impression on me and my family. We have great memories of the office waiting room with all of the toys to play with and the free toys he gave us to take home after each appointment. Even remember some house calls he made. Just a special individual. It’s very rare to find a physician like Dr. Harry Hotz today. God Bless.

Dr. Hotz was my Doctor when I was born in 1972 and was circumcised by him, I never knew until recently from my parents that Dr. Hotz was from the Tribe of Judah (Jewish) and that I was circumcised as commanded in the Torah. I came to the understanding of Torah at age 40, realizing that I am from the tribe of Joseph (Ephraim) as described in the Prophets scattered among the nations. May Yehovah bless your family’!

To the Family of Dr. Harry Hotz
I'm am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I was a patient of his when I was a child up until I was 16 years old. I remember him and everything about him fondly. I was a sickly child and he was always there for me. When my mother could not bring me in, I remember the house calls..his black bag his bow tie. To this day I remember even the entire office. I could go on forever..so many many memories. My two oldest children even became patients. I remember your beautiful mother working in the office. Thank you Dr. Hotz for all the kindness, caring, laughter and love you gave to me. I pray to God above that he will bring comfort, peace and strength to all of you mourning his passing. My deepest condolences from the Campbell and Ellison kids.
I shared one of my favour pictures Dr. Hotz with my daughter Karen and son Robb in 1995, we he was starting to “retire” and I asked him if I could take a picture of the children with him because I knew he was such a special and important part of our lives. When received a call Dr. Harry Hotz passed away peacefully on Friday my heart broke.
He was my brother Brian and my Paediatrician and then our kids.
My mom always said she was so thankful as he kept my brother alive so many times and kept trying to find answers to help my brother he had pneumonia 12 times before he was 10 years because of a blood condition and he did fine a way. It meant as kids we were at his office every week as my brother had to have a cold shot each, to build up his ammunities because what he was lacking in his blood, so he was such an important part of my growing up. (My mom kept all his notes pages and I was just resently looking at them in her files and remembered him sitting at his desk with his fountain pen writting them as he was talking and then we'd get to pick a toy from his basket on the desk, as we'd say goodbye and thank you.
He made house calls and in 1968 when there was a pandemic known then as the Hong Kong Flu, I had it with pneumonia, I still remember him coming back into my bedroom from calling the hospital and saying there were no beds at St. Joe's but he'd came out everyday to check on me, I think even twice a day a few times. I've thought a lot about that during this pandemic and so thankful for his care.
He took such wonderful care of my kids Robbie with asthma and Karen especially since she was born with a kidney disorder. And I like my mom am thankful to him for my children's lives.
He had a great way of encouraging us as kids and as parents to do what you needed to for the condition but keep living as normal kids and that I am also so thankful for. The last time I saw him was in the mall and my daughter and I got a wonderful hug, that I will always cherish.
He cared for so many children, he was such a special man and I’m sure was so important to so many. "Dr Hotz loves tiny tots," so true and we loved him.

Rest In Peace with so many thanks Dr Hotz

Dear Ruth and family. In Memory of a life so beautifully lived by "Nurse Betty, "Tiny Tots Love Dr Hotz". In fact anyone who knew him realized what a compassionate and dedicated Doctor, friend and family man he was. I won the lottery of life when I started working with Dr Hotz. We became a family unit dedicated to the physical and mental well being of the children of Hamilton AND their parents too. He was a role model to all, a hero and friend to his patients. Truly 'MY FRIEND THE DOTOR'. I have so many memories of Dr Hotz...a dapper dresser, his famous bow tie, (even one with lights), the toy basket, fun toy filled happy waiting room, office parties at Christmas with OUR families, good food and fun times together. He made house calls in snow storms or on his way home to his family, would stay late at the office to see a child who awoke from a nap with a high fever. None of that would have been possible with our the love and support of Ruth. What an amazing pair. "Dr Hotz" cared". You are loved! You will be missed! BUT. A life that touches others, goes on forever. love from Nurse Betty and the Beaudoin family

Dr. Hotz was my first doctor. He was like no other. From house calls to visits in hospital when I was ill, caring, compassionate and amazing human being. Loved seeing his colourful bow ties. My last visit with him was when I was 22, married and pregnant with my first child. I’ll never forget that day. He saw me for the last time, treated me for an ear infection and I knew it would be our last visit. My sincerest condolences to the Hotz family. Dr. Hotz was such an amazing person. I vividly remember him making a house call late one night as I was very ill. Dr Hotz was my doctor growing up. I remember whenever I went to his office, that I loved all the toys he. After seeing my brother and I he had a basket full of plastic cars that we could pick from. He also did many a home visit (in the days doctors did house calls) when my brother and I were sick. I also remember he always wearing bow ties. Every time I drive by his old practice I think of him. I wish that I was able to visit him and chat with him, but because of COVID I could not. He will be missed. My sympathies are to his wife and family. Dr Hotz was a good and gentle man. Dr. Hotz was a devoted doctor and wonderful person. He created a warm and friendly environment in his office and as children, rather than being frightened, we were always happy to go to his office for appointments. And who could forget the basket of toys on his desk and all of the toys in the waiting area? He was extremely dedicated to his patients and seeing him in his bow tie was always a welcome sight when making house calls. I first met Dr. Hotz in 1960 as my paediatrician. He looked after me until I got married in the 70's. He then looked after my daughter as a premie and had the premonition to start treatments on her before they happened. When I had my 2nd child, he came to visit me at Mac (and not his hospital) to congratulate me on the birth of my second child. all of us kids who went to Dr Hotz benefited in so many ways and so did our parents. Thank you for your care all those years.

Dr. Hotz was one in a million, an amazing human. He was my and my older brothers doctor. He was my doctor almost until he retired. My last visit to his office he very delicately told me at age 25, that it was time for me to go to another doctor, that I didn’t need a paediatrician anymore...lol. He treated our family like most of his patients, like his own family. I will fondly remember his signature bow ties, the house calls with his specialty license plate, his beautiful art work all over the waiting rooms and examination rooms, the toys in the basket on his desk, photos of his beautiful family in his office and his lovely nursing staff including nurse Ruth his lovely wife.❤. I remember being so excited to move over to the “teen ager” waiting room. I am so very sad today as he had a tremendous impact on my life and I will never forget him. He will always be remembered with love and affection by our family. Rest In Peace doc. Thinking of the family, especially nurse Ruth, as you mourn this incredible man. With Love, the Genovese Family

I first met Dr Hotz well over 60 years ago as he was my childhood doctor. I recall him visiting me at home on the west mountain. Even when I was hospitalized on a number of occasions, he dropped by for a visit. What I recall the most is that he had a very pleasant manner that reassured me when I was not 100%. When I look back at those times through an adult's eyes, he had a gentleness about him and patience. An outstanding person I might add. As life would turn out, I moved to the east Mountain where Dr Hotz and his family were neighbours. His son Mark and I were at Sherwood Secondary at the same time. Quite often driving out Main Street, I see the old house which was his office. I remember the waiting room with children and books about. I still to this day remember the smell of antiseptic in the examining rooms. The last time I saw Dr Hotz was from a distance in a restaurant prior to New Years about ten years ago. I wish I had taken to time to say hi.
