She was one of a kind! Jean passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Sunday, March 7, 2021 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of Donald Richard Kemp (2015) for 65 years. Loving mother to Robert of Massachusetts, Nancy of Burlington, and John (Tracey) of Sydenham. Dear Grandmother to Catie of Washington D.C. Survived by many nieces and nephews and their families whom she dearly loved. Jean grew up in Roseneath, Ontario, the only child of Arthur Ingham Braithwaite and Mary Elizabeth Moir Braithwaite. Jean helped her parents operate Braithwaite's Cottages on Rice Lake. Jean graduated from Teacher's College in Toronto and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Marmora. After getting married in 1949 and moving to Burlington she taught in another one-room schoolhouse in Ash. From there Jean taught at Glenwood School and Clarksdale School in Burlington. A remarkable, kind, caring woman who had "a good run." When the going got tough she would say "there is always someone worse off so just get on with it." Mom enjoyed life, loved her family and friends, Curling at the Burlington Curling Club, playing Bridge with her Bridge Club, Euchre with the Retired Teachers, High Tea at the Prince of Wales with the girls, listening to the tunes on her iPad, and travelling the world with Dad. Many thanks to Dr Harricharan for your kindness and support, Dr Berlingieri for your assistance over the years, Dr Kang for looking after Mom in hospital and all the caring nurses on 7 South 100. At Mom's request, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations made to the Joseph Brant Hospital or Port Nelson United Church would be sincerely appreciated by the family. "Remember me with smiles and laughter for that's how I will remember you all." www.smithsfh.com

I remember your mom as a very kind and gentle soul, I treated her for her psoriasis for many years and and always thought very highly or her. Sorry for your huge loss, she was a great woman...Peggy Martin
