I knew Barry through the Labour movement. He was always a fighter for the working class struggles. He had a great sense of humour and love of life. I really respected his commitment and proud to be his union brother.
In solidarity for a life well lived
the struggle continues

Barry was an amazing labour leader whose disarming smile complemented his deep commitment to workers. Barry was one of the many proud Hamilton unionists who are never afraid to take on the tough issues. He inspired a whole generation of activists in the construction trades to fight for dignity and justice.

As a Hamilton native, I knew of Barry and how respected he was in the labour and progressive movements, through my father, the late Murray Thomson. My husband Mike Phillips knew and admired Barry for his devoted leadership and his tireless struggle for social justice and his advocacy for democracy, peace and the best of conditions for the working class. Our condolences to your family on your loss.
