It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Olimpio, in his 94th year, on Sunday March 7, 2021 at the Hamilton General Hospital as a result of complications from the COVID-19 virus. Loving spouse to his devoted wife Barbara for 19 years. Predeceased by his cherished first wife Norina (1996), parents Alfonso and Angela, and brothers Albano (2016) and Antonio (2003). Dear father of Roberto (Anne) and Frank (Marisa). Cherished stepfather of Sandy (Craig), Karen (Donny), and Dawn (Tony). Adored nonno of Marco, Kristina (Steven), Anthony, Taylor, Carson, Ethan, Jacob, Ava, and Bisnonno to Amelia. Greatly loved uncle of Rosalba (Sam) and the late Lidia (Tom). He will also be missed by his many friends and relatives in Canada, the U.S. and Italy. Born in Codroipo (Udine), he emigrated to Canada in 1951. Olimpio was a 30-year employee of Stelco and a founding member of the Famee Furlane Club of Hamilton, Associazione Nazionale Alpini of Hamilton and the Knights of Columbus, Waterdown. Known for his great sense of humour and warm heart, Olimpio was a loyal friend who was always prepared to lend a hand and assist others. A lifelong supporter of the Udinese soccer club, he also became an ardent fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs upon his arrival in Canada. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a private family Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Waterdown. Olimpio will be laid to rest at St. Thomas Cemetery, Waterdown. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
